I was excited to see this movie as soon as I saw the trailer for it in the theater.  Then I found out that I can see it for FREE before it opens at a screening.  It’s a LADIES NIGHT event. If you want to attend for FREE (I don’t know why I have to capitalize the word  free.  I guess it is because I am yelling it and I am excited!) just read on.

If you live near Sherman Oaks, CA and want to win two admission passes to see a screening of the movie on Wednesday May 29th @ 7:30PM just tell me in the comments one other movie you have seen featuring one of the stars of The Heat.  If you get the answer right, and you will, I will email the details to you and make sure you and a friend are on the guest list.

I hope I see you there!  Good Luck!

Note:  You must live in the local area and provide your own transportation to the theater.  These passes do not guarantee admission to the film.  It is important to show up 45 minutes before the start of the screening to ensure VIP seating.  Space is limited.  I will post a message when all passes have been given away.  Only the names of the limited eligible winners will be placed on the guest list.  I have not been paid to promote this or any other film. All opinions are my own.  I have been offered free admission to this screening.

My Oscar Experience: Part One @MendPoverty #MENDOSCARS #MizOscars

My Oscar experience 2013 began when I saw The Sessions and I considered it to be “Oscar-worthy”.  When I see movies I always try to predict the nominees for the Academy Awards.  Once the nominees are announced, I try to see as many of the films as possible.  This year, I think I out-did myself!

I enjoyed seeing quite a few of the Oscar nominated films including:
The Silver Linings Playbook
The Master
The Sessions
Frankenweenie
Brave
Skyfall
Snow White and the Huntsman
The Avengers
The Hobbit
Paperman
Lincoln
Life of Pi
Django Unchained
Zero Dark Thirty
Argo
Les Miserables

Here are a few I missed but would still like to see:
Flight
Amour
The Impossible
Beasts of the Southern Wind
ParaNorman
Anna Karenina

Tonight I have the privilege of attending MEND’s Oscar® Experience Los Angeles.  MEND is a charitable organization.  With dignity and respect, powered by volunteers, MEND’s mission is to break the bonds of poverty by providing basic human needs and a pathway to self-reliance.  Meet Each Need with Dignity, MEND, is an organization that my family has supported over the years by donating and volunteering.  This is the first time I am able to attend their annual gala event.

Oscar® Experience is the Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts and Sciences’ program that enables local charities to host glamorous Oscar® viewing parties and raise money for their organizations. Only one charity in any given media market may participate in Oscar® Experience. MEND is honored that the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has designated MEND as the only official Oscar® Experience charity in the Los Angeles area.

The whole thing takes place at Universal Studios, here is the “invitation”:

Be Inspired, Everything Miz Meliz

Merry Christmas! I love you!

Merry Christmas!

I am filled with love today and my eyes are still stinging from the tears I shed last night.  I went to see Les  Misérables with my husband and sons on Christmas Eve.  It was wonderful!  I cried throughout the movie because I found the music and acting to be so powerful with emotion, it moved me.  The story of Jean Valjean is one of hope and unconditional love and forgiveness.  I was looking forward to this reminder which was perfectly timed to arrive on Christmas Eve.  No matter how bad things get (and they got very very bad for Jean Valjean!) we can always get through it if we don’t give up faith.  That can be faith in God, in love, in friendship, or simply in the belief that things can get better tomorrow.  Just live one more day.  The best message of Christmas time (the season of love and hope that you honor) that I can think of is to believe.  Believe in yourself.  Believe in your heart and your capacity for love.  As Victor Hugo wrote, “To love another is to see the face of God.”  To truly love someone is the most graceful thing we can do.  If we give love to another our heart is filled with joy and compassion.

I love you!

I love the magic of Christmas and the joy it brings to all people.  Young and old, people of all faiths wish each other good tidings at this time.  The spirit of a giving heart is personified in Santa Claus.  I love that spirit of giving.  I am filled with love today, not because of what I have or what I want, but because of what I am able to give.  Jean Valjean didn’t have a wife, or children of his own.  He didn’t have anything for much of his life, and what he did have was borrowed, stolen, or given to him when he denied his own self.  When he had the chance to love another person is when he was given the true gift of hope.

Believe

Hope

Live

Love

Let joy fill your heart!

Merry Christmas!  I love you!
