Friends, good friends, are hard to find.
They bring sunshine into our lives.
My how time flies! In August I was nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award by Carolyn West of This Talk Ain’t Cheap. See Carolyn and I in the picture below enjoying our shakes at a Johnny Rockets event.
Every time I look at or post a picture with sun rays or a pretty sunset I think of this special honor. Lately, it has happened a lot. Now is a good time to thank these women for their generosity, friendship, encouragement and love. These lovely ladies truly bring sunshine to my life. Please visit their blogs and see what I mean.
The “rules” of the award are:
Along with the honor of receiving the Sunshine Award, there is a tradition of asking and answering questions so that we can get to know one another better. Since I am an open book, I am fine with answering questions. I don’t mind if the bloggers that I nominate don’t answer the questions. It is totally up to them.
If you couldn’t blog anymore, what would your “outlet” be?
If I couldn’t blog anymore and I had to start a new “outlet” I would have to do something to keep busy. It would be something to fill my time and satisfy my creativity and be a social outlet. It would have to be something I don’t already do. I think it would be quilting or sewing. I would join a crafting group and take classes at Joann’s. I would host crafting parties and make things for my home and to give as gifts. I would go to conventions for my craft and sell items online.
If you could go to a spa and get any treatment they provided, what would you get?
If I could get any treatment provided at a spa, I would take a mud bath and body scrub, a massage, and a facial. Oh my goodness, that sounds nice.
If you could go back in time, would you have followed a different career path than you did? What would it be?
If I could go back in time I believe I would like to follow the same career path, but what I would do differently is stick with it. I was always the assistant manager, assistant to the executive, assistant to the principal, acting manager, supervisor. I would like to see how far I could have gone in my chosen career if I had stayed with it until I was the manager, the executive, the director.
You can plan any type of vacation you want. Would you want relaxing or adventurous?
Do you want to take a guess on this one? I would take an adventurous vacation! I would like to go skydiving, off-roading, camping, zip lining, sailing . . . and I want to go to places that I have never been to before. I also love to relax! I would love to sit on the beach and listen to the waves until sunset.
What food do you hide from your kids and sneak after they go to bed?
Chocolate and ice cream. Sometimes a bowl of cereal if we don’t have ice cream.
What TV show (that is currently on) are you addicted to?
Believe it or not, I like Storage Wars. I am not addicted to any particular show, there are some new shows that I like but I have been preoccupied with my writing projects and haven’t been watching too much television lately. We record most of the shows we like. Lito and I enjoy The Network, Castle, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, and The Middle. We also like Major Crimes.
What was the best book you’ve ever read?
The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz – it changed my life.
Do you play a musical instrument? If not, what would you play if you could?
I am not musical and cannot even carry a tune. I have tried. I like to sing and I love music. If I could play an instrument, I would play the electric guitar and sing like a rock star!
What was the first and last concert you’ve been to?
The very first concert I went to was Shaun Cassidy at the Los Angeles Forum sometime around 1978. I wasn’t that in to his music, but I thought he was a total babe! The best concert I went to was Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers featuring Edie Brickell at the Hollywood Bowl in August. (I was lucky enough to see lots of live music this summer! I saw quite a few shows at the Hollywood Bowl and other out door venues in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for a blog post about that experience.)
What is your favorite holiday?
I love all holidays and celebrations, but lately they seem more trouble than they are worth. The best thing about the holidays is spending time with family and friends, sharing meals, getting dressed up, giving gifts, and taking pictures . . . why not make every day experiences that special? For the past few years I have especially enjoyed New Year’s because almost everyone celebrates it all around the world and it marks a new beginning.
I would like to nominate these bloggers for the next round of the Sunshine Award, because they are brightly shining stars that light up my life. Please visit these fantastic blogs:
