Plan

Is it time for you to make a PLAN?

plan-1When it comes to planning, I am totally on it.

Parties, events, schedules, anything and everything.

I am about checklists, and graphs, mapping, and hashing out. Pre-brief, re-brief, de-brief.

What about when it is about me?

How do I know what I want for my Life Plan?

Of the four styles of planning that Sue Loncaric mentions in her post about Creating a Life Plan in the link above, I am most likely these days to use intention planning.

I have actually tried and used all four of the types over the years and feel confident that there are benefits to all of them. Personally, I think for the purpose of planning one’s life direction – intention planning is the best. Of course, I consider myself at my midlife – so I wouldn’t know for sure. But that is the way I am leaning right now. I would like to dive deeper into what intention planning means to me.

“Intention Planning is where you actually imagine yourself in your goal. As in the example of Iceland holiday, you imagine yourself there. You taste it, smell it and feel it. Let’s say again, you want to go to Iceland. Each step you plan is reinforcing your goal into your subconscious until you are there.” ~Sue Loncaric

I see it as a vision…what I want my end goal to be, and knowing that, holding it my heart, in my mind’s eye, creates in me a desire to go in that direction, and my focus, my actions, my decisions are all reflected in the inert need to complete my journey. When I arrive and reach my goal, fulfill my plan, achieve my dream – I know then that I have succeeded. Yes! I intended to do this! Yes, my core desire is to do this thing. It is part of who I am and I can’t stop doing it if I tried. It is me and I am it.

hqdefaultI like to keep lists and journals, and I do use the sticky note system. I have been compared to Spongebob Squarepants who in an episode where he was the party planner, he had everything on a checklist down to the minute. But Life is not a party. It doesn’t always go according to plan. That’s why I feel it is important to think about it and when the smile comes across your face and you see yourself in your moment of glory – that is when you will know what direction to take your life…You know what your soul knows.

“Your soul knows what you need to do to change and improve.” ~Tony Robbins

If it hasn’t risen to the surface yet, trust that it will. Feed your soul, dig deep, and you will find what you are looking for. It might not be a script or detailed minute by minute list, but you will know.
