I met with author and parent educator, Roma Khetarpal on Monday. I attended a taping of celebrity chef, Aarti Sequeira’s new show 10 Minute Meals in her Los Angeles home on Thursday. I visited Vanity Fair’s Social Club in Hollywood. I went to the VIP Kick Off Cocktail Party at the Citadel Outlets for the Lifestyle Bloggers National Conference 2015, and met my colleagues at the conference on Saturday at Maker City L.A’s the Reef. Saturday night I interviewed blogger and health enthusiast, Laura Lohr for Ten Minutes in Tinsel Town.
And it’s not over yet! Tonight is the Oscar Awards! I will be attending the M.E.N.D.”Hollywood’s Biggest Night” Red Carpet, and Academy Awards Telecast, Gala Event with Gourmet Dinner by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Check out my LIVE Tweets and Instagram for updates during the Oscars.
We just got back from attending the Lifestyle Bloggers National Conference in Downtown L.A. and we review the conference and it’s amazing coveted gift bag (aka SWAG – stuff we all get.)
I enjoyed hanging out the past few days with Laura and learning more about this incredible lady! We talked about training for marathons, setting goals, what we are passionate about, the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and so much more – including some blogging and SEO tips.
Yesterday, I attended the Lifestyle Bloggers National Conference and on Thursday I went to the Kick Off Cocktail Party that started the event. See my photos and check out Tweets about the event using the hashtag #LBNC15. If you were there, Tweet me and introduce yourself so I can follow you!
Tweet this: Hi MizMeliz! I loved the Lifestyle Bloggers Nat’l Conference #LBNC15
This is my 3rd (of five annual) Lifestyle Bloggers conference I have attended that was organized by Ana Lydia Monaco of Coco Blog, the founder of the Latina Lifestyles Blogger Collective. Each one gets better and better. It is a place to meet up with friends and make new ones – which is a really great feeling and much better quality experience than regular old networking. The education and valuable input that I receive at this conference has shaped me and my blog over the years. This is one conference not to miss!
Thursday was a busy day for Miz Meliz! I had a few hours in between two appointments, so while I was in the city, I decided to stop by the Vanity Fair Social Club. I checked in, got my VIP pass and found a chair to sit and rest my feet while I watched all the fancy people hustle and hob nob. A very glamorous style diva was sitting in the same area busy on her phone and tablet. Just as I observered her, wondering who she was, she introduced herself to me. It was Heidi Nazarudin of TheAmbittionista.com and co-founder of BloggerBabes…just the person I hoped to meet!
I was sorry I missed hanging out at the Vanity Fair Social Club with some of my favorite bloggers who also checked in this week, Mary Lansing of Along Comes Mary Blog, Valerie Mitchell of Sweeps4Bloggers, and Lizza Morales of My Life as Lizza, all of whom I know through So Cal Lady Bloggers. Yet, as usual, we connected and shared the experience through social media.
My favorite things about #VFSC that took place in Hollywood @WeWork February 16th through today, February 22nd just in time for the Oscars – was the photo booth and the Twitter Vending Machine. But that is only because it was all I had time for during my “layover.” It was designed for just that purpose. VFSC is the “weeklong social suite for influencers, it is a hot spot where invited guests can drop by, plug in, and experience Vanity Fair’s Campaign Hollywood.” I really wanted to attend the panel discussions, presentations, and hosted happy hours sponsored by @armanibeauty @chrysler @clarisonic, @greygoose @lancomeusa and @lorealparisusa that were planned throughout the week leading up to the Oscars, but a busy girl like me has to take what she can get. And what I got was a new friend in Heidi.

Also on Thursday, I had the unique opportunity to meet the celebrity chef, Aarti Sequeira, for an intimate look inside her home in her own kitchen as she and her husband shot their new OwnZones.com show, 10 Minute Meals. They were both such gracious hosts and I really enjoyed getting to know them. I am looking forward to reading Aarti’s book, Aarti’s Paarti An American Kitchen with an Indian Soul and interviewing her soon on an upcoming episode of my show, Ten Minutes in Tinsel Town.
I was really taken with this beautiful couple and their little girl. They have made a unique balance of art, cooking, and home life that has spirit and exudes friendship, inclusivity, and peace. I will be writing more about Aarti and her family as well as sharing a few of her secrets to making delicious meals in ten minutes! Unlike Ten Minutes in Tinsel Town – which is never just 10 minutes, Aarti and Brendan do manage to show you how you can make a great meal in just a few minutes. They know what it is like to be a busy family on the go!
I started out this week by meeting up with author and parenting educator, Roma Khetarpal. I am currently reading her book, The “Perfect” Parent 5 Tools for Using Your Inner Perfection to Connect with Your Kids. I am amazed at how well I connected with Roma’s philosophies and have used many of her suggestions as a means to communicate with my husband and children over the past 20 years. Roma and I became instant friends and I invited her to be on Ten Minutes in Tinsel Town as well. Look for that episode and a review of Roma’s book on MizMeliz.com in the coming weeks.
If you would like to meet Roma, she will be speaking on Thursday, February 26 from 6pm – 7pm at the Whole Foods in Valencia for a workshop and book signing. RSVP on her Facebook Page, Tools of Growth.
Well, I am out of time for today! I gotta go get glammed up for my Red Carpet appearance at Universal Studios’ Globe Theater for the M.E.N.D. Oscar Party.
Have a great a night in Hollywood @MENDPOVERTY #Oscars2015
