Highlights From the Entertainment New Media Network Conference 2014 #ENMNCon14

For me, conferences are about networking, making connections, learning new things, and getting away.

#ENMNCon14 was all of that and so much more! I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to attend this conference and to be introduced to the Entertainment New Media Network.

Here are my highlights of the ENMN14 Conference in Orange County on February 14-16, 2014

  • Getting an introduction to travel writing and the wonderful world of destination marketing from Peggy Bendel
  • Tweeting 101 from Twitter insider Doug Bowman @stop
  • Hearing directly from the Tourism Board professionals why blogging is so important to getting heads in beds.
  • Understanding my influence and how to be popular with brands from the great Marcy Massura from MarcieWrites.com
  • Meeting bloggers I am in Facebook groups with IRL – shout out to So Cal Lady Bloggers: Veronica @CidStyleFile and Wendy @OverTheTopMommy and Sondra @hip_m0m and Jamie @laderalady and Mindy @mindyjoym
  • Viewing the movie Mom’s Night Out with cast and crew and doing a press junket with the stars
  • Hanging out with my friends Carolyn, Erin, Ana Lydia, Jamie and Ricca!
  • Enjoying a nice dinner and evening with my hubby at a nice hotel
  • Receiving really great service at the Hyatt Regency in Orange County
  • Figuring out that Q & A with Special Guest at an Entertainment Conference means you get to meet famous actors!
  • Seeing the super rock stars from the blogosphere and getting to know Ruth, Katherine, Yolanda, Monica, Gracie, Xenia a little bit better.
  • Gaining incredible insights of the PR and publicist world and how it relates to blogging.
  • Learning the difference between being respectful about product reviews and not dragging down a business if you didn’t like the product and giving an honest review for a film, play, book, or TV show even if you didn’t like it in a professional way
  • Supporting friends and learning the ropes from the pros on the panel discussions
  • Rocking out and singing with Genevieve Goings @choochoogirl
  • Hearing my new favorite kid’s song – and loving it!
  • Going to Disney’s California Adventure with my hubby using the special conference rate

And there was this…I know everyone got one, but I was excited to have a personal connection to the vendors at the Expo!:

So I see you’re heading to the ENMN conference this weekend? So am I! Make sure you come by the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa booth during the Travel Expo for something extra special. We are a AAA Four Diamond rated resort in Reno, Nevada, with award-winning restaurants, world-class Spa Atlantis, and dynamic casino action.  Stop by on Saturday so we can chat more!

Looking forward to meeting you!

Yes, one of my favorite things about any good conference is getting the SWAG. I’ll admit it. No freebie is too small. It makes me feel better being away from home to have some treats. I like trying new products and learning about new aps. ENMNCon14 did not disappoint. First off, I can NEVER have too many thumb drives! All the book/grocery bags will be really useful since we no longer get plastic bags at stores in L.A. I am saving my olive oil and pistachios for next weekend. My hubby and I already tried the massage oil and lip balms. (Sorry!) And of course the cookies from Atlantis never made it home! I have some CDs and fun stuff to give away to you, so keep an eye open for the next giveaway on MizMeliz.com.

I want to mention all of the sponsors because I really appreciate their help in making this conference a great experience.

Lastly, I want to thank Erica I. Pena-Vest, Jessica Ballard, Margaret Salmond, Mindy Marzec and everyone behind the scenes who were responsible for putting together this adventure. You are paving the road for small bloggers like me, and I am grateful for the warmth and genuine care that you put into everything that you do.

Are you a blogger or freelance writer who wants to make a splash in social media? Consider joining the Entertainment New Media Network. I look forward to seeing you next year in Nashville at #ENMNCon15!

Yay, I loved reading your recap! Thanks for making me feel like a rockstar by asking me for my autograph, hehe. And I must clarify … I was but a mere volunteer; I did not have any part of putting #ENMNCON14 together or coordinating anything. I simply helped out where and when I was needed that weekend. Erica, Jessica, and Margaret are the true heroes!
