This past week has been a whirlwind of Hollywood Style Entertainment for me, which is a real treat!

First and foremost, I want to tell you about my fun experiences with the ENMNCon15 and how it ties together with my perspective on the New Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Opening.

I had a feeling that I would like this season of DWTS. What did you think of the season opener? I loved it. I mean, well, I really liked it. The opening scene was pretty good. Not the best I’ve seen, but I liked the creativity and use of Hollywood locations. It happened that I was in the area whenit was being filmed and I felt the excitement of being a part of it, much like the representation of thousands of fans who were dancing in the streets with the stars.

I think that is what I love most about Dancing with the Stars. It is interactive and participatory. We call in and vote, we send messages to the dancers and other fans via Twitter and Instagram during the show, we follow the journey of the contestants, the professional dancers and even the judges along the way. When the final eliminations are made we are at one with the finalists, it is a victory for all.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. 2015-09-10 21.35.50I was at the Entertainment New Media Network Conference’s Pajama Party at Dave & Busters on Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday night, September 10th, when the street was closed down for a huge production. Looking out onto the street in the heart of Hollywood through the panoramic floor to ceiling windows and seeing the lights being set up and the cameras rolling in was a show in itself.

The excitement was built up slowly as I pointed my attention to what was happening at the party. 2015-09-10 20.56.18 (1)Genevieve Goings was giving a presentation in her pajamas on how to apply camera ready make up in ten minutes or less. She looked gorgeous after demonstrating how she fixes her hair, applies make up and false eyelashes on the go. When she was done, the scene below was ready, but for what exactly? At that point I did not know, but I kept looking through the window to see if I recognized anyone.2015-09-10 21.37.02

2015-09-10 20.12.47Avatar-GrandfatheredThe ENMNCon15 attendees were shown an episode of Grandfathered, starring John Stamos and The Grinder starring Rob Lowe. Both new sitcoms which will air on Fox TV later this month are exceptional. I liked Grandfathered best. The acting, timing, and writing were very good. I enjoyed the premise, too. Played by John Stamos, as a young and hot looking, successful restaurateur who finds out that he is a father to a single dad, played by Josh Peck, making him a…wait for it…a g, gr, gra…grandfather! It was hilarious and touching. It is sure to be a hit!

grinderIn The Grinder, Robe Lowe plays an actor who has just ended a long stint as a lawyer on a very successful TV show. He goes to his home town and stays with his brother, played by Dean Sanderson, who is actually a lawyer. Sanderson’s character is not a very successful lawyer, however and the two have a lot to learn about boundaries and brotherhood.  I see the potential for a very humorous coming together family sitcom.

Both shows are slated to start on September 29th on FOX. Grandfathered at 8:00 p.m. and Grinder at 8:30 p.m. (Pacific Time.)Grandfathered-air-TV-Show-2015-Postergrinder poster

After the screenings, I looked out the window on to the street below. It was the perfect bird’s eye view of the Dancing with the Stars season premiere opening scene being filmed. The whole cast was there! I could see Paula Dean and Bindi Irwin. It was amazing. All the conference attendees were thrilled to see this unfold right before their eyes, many of them were visiting from out of state. We could have gone down to the street and fight our way through the crowd to get a close up or a selfie with the stars and the professional dancers, but the view of all the action was just too good! I wish I had spent more time watching and taking pictures, since I got stuck in grid lock traffic on the way home in front of The Hollywood Bowl as that show was letting out. (I think that is what Alexandra Williams did!)

Seeing all this happen while I was attending the best Entertainment and Travel blogging conference in L.A. got me really pumped up to see it on TV. It went by so fast! But it sure was a thrill to see it all come together in a beautiful production that certainly expressed the Hollywood Boulevard experience. It was complete with a scene of an open air tour bus, the city lights, sparkly glitter lining the streets, and dancing the night away. Just like my life! (But more on that in another post.)

My favorite part of watching Dancing last night was sharing my thoughts on Twitter and Instagram. I found lots of pictures and funny comments from other fans, reporters, and the contestants and pro dancers themselves. It isn’t shown live where I live, so many of the info out there was from earlier broadcasts. It was still fun for us West Coasters. By the way, who did you vote for?

Dancing with the Stars official Twitter account @DancingABC posted this pic of Hayes Grier and his supportive brother, Nash Grier. Hayes was pretty good in his Dancing debut. He reminds me of my 15 year old son, tall and lanky and a killer smile. Learning to dance at his age is going to be a real plus. Some people think he doesn’t qualify as a “star” because he is an internet sensation. I for one am thrilled that ABC recognizes that live video, You Tube and other apps are a great place to find personalities and are the popular stars of today.

Professional dancer, Karina Smirnoff (@Karina_Smirnoff) posted this instapic collage of her “first day at school” from backstage. I love seeing these candid shots!

DWTS Judge, Carrie Ann Inaba (@Carrieanninaba) posted this shot of herself getting ready for the show to start. And after the show, the photo below was posted. I’m not sure these were actually posted by Carrie Ann herself, since she obviously didn’t take the shots. But whoever did take and post these photos gave a great insider’s perspective. I appreciate that!

My favorite contestant in this season of Dancing with Stars (and my most anticipated “star”) is Bindi Irwin. She stole my heart the moment she was born when I was enamored by the love story of her parents and their willingness to share their lives on television. They lead the way for reality TV. Steve Irwin’s death was such a shock. It is wonderful to see his family living his message. Bindi is a sweetheart and I can’t wait to see her every week as she dances the night away with my favorite professional dancer, Derek Hough! They are so adorable.

Sharna Burgess and Nick Carter are a couple to watch as well. I think Nick is even more of a heart throb now than he was in the early years of the BackStreet Boys. I was never a big fan, but how can we not love this hottie! It was a great first night for everyone. It was hard to see the low scores for some of the talent, but it was nice to see some of the dancers are seriously contenders and I can’t wait to see who makes it to the finals.

One thing is for sure – the rest of the season will be entertaining, Hollywood Style!

Thank you to FOX TV, ABC TV, Getty Images, my friends at Twitter and Instagram, for the pictures in this post. All other pictures were taken by me and may be used without permission, because that is how I roll.
