Tinsel Town Interview with @ChrisKubby @TenMinitt

Posted on June 16th, 2016 by & filed under #SPARKLE Tinsel Town Tonight Interviews, Connecting People, Everything Miz Meliz, See the Video on YouTube, Tinsel Town Live 2016

This week I had the chance to interview Chris Kubbernus, an internationally known digital marketing expert, that I met through social media.

“Kubby” joined me online from Copenhagen, Denmark, where he works and lives with his family.

We had a lovely conversation and Chris shared his background with us. I asked him about his core values and he gave us insights as to why he does what he does.

I enjoyed getting to know Kubby better and I was pleased to find that my first impressions of him were accurate – he loves to help people succeed in their business and is motivated by making the world a better place. That is why I think he is a SUPER STAR!

See the video of our interview here and enjoy a game of “Hollywood Squares” style trivia that we played. It was a fun and light way to get to know each other and spend a little time with the audience. I will be hosting other trivia games online every Tuesday night this Summer – I hope to see you there!

Show Notes:

Chris likes to see movies. He is passionate about marketing, social media, Snapchat and building businesses.

Chris likes to do a lot of q & a and he talks about how businesses will use content in the future to promote themselves.

Check out Kubby’s tips for social media on his blog:

Topics we will discuss:

Social media, business, marketing, branding…and “The Brady Bunch!”

The next interview I am doing is with Bridgette Alexander, the author of a new novel in the #CelineCaldwell series called, “Southern Gothic.” It is a Young Adult book and I look forward to reading it and reviewing right here on and meeting Bridgette when she does her book signing in Los Angeles.

Interview with Filmmaker Gary Alvarez: Exploring Social Consciousness

Posted on May 4th, 2016 by & filed under Connecting People, Everything Miz Meliz, Tinsel Town Live 2016

Did you ever get one of those notifications or suggestions on Facebook for “people you may know” and wonder, why? Why should I know him? Who is he or she? Curiously, you click on their profile to see if you might now them and who they know that you are already connected with. That happened when I “met” Gary Alvarez for the first time. Totally random. I sent a friend request and he asked me how I might know him. He said, “thanks Melissa for reaching out! please remind me, have we met in person?”

That was the first sign of sincerity. Gary didn’t automatically accept the request. I told him about the friends that we have in common, what I do, and that I would love to interview him sometime. I had looked at his profile and was intrigued by his bio. Writer/Filmmaker in Los Angeles. DJ. Webseries. Umm, ya, that is what I am interested in.

Gary then accepted the friend request and we messaged about what we do and who we know. I told him I would like to interview him and he said, “interview me?! *blush*.”  That was the second sign of sincerity and indicated to me that Gary was a humble man. I am always perplexed by the reason a person would be surprised when I ask to interview them. I always want to say, “Why not?” Because I sincerely believe that everyone is interview-worthy. I am interested in meeting people and what better way to get to know someone than in a conversation about them? I told Gary, “I love to interview the people behind the scenes. As well as those who are living their purpose and passion.” He said he looked forward to connecting with me. Sweet!

It took a little coaxing, but I am excited to say that he agreed to a face to face interview. He is driving into town for an event and is making a stop at my studio to be interviewed! Check it out in the embeded viewer below…live on Saturday, April 30th at 4 pm Pacific Time. Otherwise, watch the replay here or on YouTube.

Gary Alvarez is a filmmaker based in Long Beach, California. He developed the web series SCUMBAGS. Other credits include producer/director of THE GOOD FOOT! SWEET 16 promo doc and writer/director of the award-winning short film A GOOD MAN. He also writes the column RACK FOCUS, spotlighting breakthrough filmmakers for the online magazine Landscape Latino.

Jennifer Quinn (@JennyQ)

No stranger to Tinsel Town Tonight, Jennifer Quinn joins me once again for her turn “on the virtual couch.”  Last time, Blab was undergoing a major overhaul and everyone was experiencing technical difficulties. The quality of that video was shameful. Although, we tried as best we could to keep going and we had a lovely conversation, Jenny was happy to return for another try, she is such a trooper!

In case you are just getting to know Jenny, here is a little bit about her:

IMG_0907Jenny likes to hike, walk & bike along the river where she lives on the Boise Greenbelt. She loves to dance, sing karaoke, read, connect with people, and hang out with her family. She says, “I like to not cook.” (Something I can relate to for sure!)

Jennifer Quinn is the Host of “The Daily Q Show” on Blab where she interviews people who demonstrate excellence in their field. She loves being a livestreamer and can also be seen on Periscope, MeVee, and Snapchat. Jenny loves the live video format so much she wrote the book on it, literally! You can download her “Free Livestream Guide” HERE!

I will talk to Jenny about livestreaming and it’s effect on personal growth, the pursuit of excellence, and her insights on self-development. I’m looking forward on getting the details from her latest adventures!

Tinsel Town Tonight Spotlight on #Focus @Tenminitt 3/29/16 6:00 pm PDT

Tinsel Town with Miz Meliz

The theme for this week is “FOCUS” and that means I need to get to work! I have lots of moving parts in my life’s work. I create art, I produce content for this blog, I enjoy connecting with people around the world via multiple social media platforms, I spend valuable time with my family and friends, and I have a full time job that I love. That’s a lot!

How can I focus on any of it or all of it? I am trying to come up with a way to tie it all together. I am making sense of my purpose for all that I do. I am considering what is most important to me and what I need to do to get closer to my heart’s true desires. My core values and goals are always top of mind. Mainly, above all is to be happy and love others. To do this well, I put aside differences, keep a cool head when facing challenges, and I try not to worry about most things. I am doing the best that I can. It actually feels pretty good.

So, how do I focus when I have so much happening in my life? This is the perfect time for me to do some streamlining and spring cleaning. I am on a staycation (at home vacation from work) and I have a list of things to accomplish. If I stick to the list and focus – – I will only get closer to my heart’s desire.

My Heart’s Desire is: To be happy, creating, connecting, and best of all, SPARKLING brightly!

Join me on Tinsel Town Tonight, my live talk show, to discuss why it is important to focus on your self and share your current projects with me. I look forward to hanging out with you and connecting!
