Check off your list with gift ideas from Miz Meliz!

#1  JEWELRY

Handmade Bohemian and Classic Style Hand Crafted Jewelry is IN! These are one of a kind and make spectacular gifts. I package them up and ship them to you within three days or I can ship them directly to the doorstep of your recipient, gift wrapped with a special message from you. Custom and personalized jewelry can be ordered by request. Besides my ETSY shop – I do Facebook Live shows where you can see my stuff, boutiques, and in home events by appointment.

#2 CALENDARS

For gardeners, flower lovers, positive happy cheerful people, or someone who wants to be – the 2017 Year in Bloom Calendar will make a terrific gift. There are three options/styles to choose from – so you can cross off three of your friends from your list just like that. (I snapped. Yes, in a Z formation!)

#3 ART PRINTS

Many of my mandalas and photographs are available as prints on RED BUBBLE. There are many sizes and styles to choose from, including stretched canvas and framed wall art.

#4 GIFTS FOR THE HOME

Throw pillows are the best way to spruce things up and make it super easy to redecorate your living room, bedroom, or office. My bold designs look awesome on these pillow cases! They come in three sizes and can be purchased with or without the pillow.

#5 GIFTS FOR THE OFFICE

This would make a great stocking stuffer for the journalist or student! Stationery and office products with bright colorful images help to inspire creativity.

#6 GIFTS FOR TEENS/TWEENS

All my kids get a lot of use out of drawstring bags, for overnights, amusement parks, and school – they always need one. Fill it with a few luxury gifts…video games, cash, tickets to the movies…their favorite treats.

#7 GIFTS FOR HIM

I’ll admit, I always get stumped on what to get for my guy. A hoodie, a key chain, a mug – – I can make suggestions and I have the goods – but honestly, I think he is happiest with food or a trip to the hardware store! Make it easy, ask him what he wants and get it. Unless he is in to surprises, most guys I know appreciate a practical gift.

#8 SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR YOUR BFF

I know my bestie will love this scarf…and that one, and the other one! It is going to be hard to choose. I love these as gifts because they are trendy, useful, and pretty. Put it with a handbag or some jewelry (see above) and you will honor your friendship with a meaningful gift.

#9 ROMANTIC GIFTS

Fill a tote bag like this one with some wine and a baguette, maybe some chocolates and an invitation to go on a picnic. Or, put a coloring book and some markers in it with a copy of her favorite book and a coupon to take the kids for the day. What she wants is some love and appreciation. Show it to her with this “love bag” and let the romance begin.

#10 A GIFT FOR YOU

That is five two hour webinars (local peeps can meet in person) for half off. Each individual webinar will be $100. Get all the details HERE.

Working is Hard – That’s Why it is Work

Posted on September 5th, 2016 by & filed under ART, Everything Miz Meliz, Jewelry Shop, Passions

Working Hard or Hardly Working!

by Melissa Reyes

September 5, 2016

Why is it hard to work? We are wired to create and to serve. When we have a goal, some type of payoff that means more than a paycheck – it makes a big difference!

It’s Labor Day here in the U.S. And my goal is to sell enough jewelry to buy a plane ticket to Nashville. See, it is my dear friend’s wedding and I am determined to get there. Finances are tight when you have two sons in college and one in high-school. Finances are tight for most people. Many people use credit for trips like this, but not me. I haven’t used credit cards for over ten years. I could use my income from my day job, but that is earmarked for other things. There never seems to be enough to do everything I want and need to do.

This isn’t a rant, or a sob story. This is just illumination. Shedding a light on my reality and that of most people I know. I want a little more. I want more and I am willing to work for it. I have talent and ability that reaches far beyond my regular job. Today, I will hustle to bring in some compensation and enjoy the “fruit of my labors.” When my friends are playing Words with Friends, Candy Crush, and Pokemon Go – I am making jewelry. When my family is watching DVRd episodes of their favorite shows – I am making videos. When I binge watch House of Cards, or Stranger Things – I am also drawing and coloring my artwork. Why? Because it is my dream. I dream of success and satisfaction from pursuing my passions and living my purpose. It is the entrepreneurial spirit. The “American Dream.”

So, today, on Labor Day, while my friends and family are going to the beach and having BBQs – I am going to hustle. I am going to sell my artwork and jewelry. I am determined. I hope and pray that at the end of the day, I will feel satisfied. I will have at least tried. I am already a success because I am willing to go there. All of the things I have made sitting in my bedroom in plastic baggies will not be there long. Today, we move it out! Let’s do this!!

If you want to buy something, comment here or send me a message at miz meliz @ yahoo . com (without the spaces.)

Have a great Labor Day! You deserve it!

Paint with Heart – Smoke on the Water Thurs on Zoom @CindyArt0

Posted on August 31st, 2016 by & filed under ART, Events, Everything Miz Meliz, Paint with Heart

Paint with Heart presents: Smoke on the Water

…or more like a Lazy, Hazy Lake View.

Why I love Paint with Heart

Every week for the past four months, I have met Cindy online for a two (or more) hour art lesson. But it is so much more than that. It has been a way to develop our friendship while learning from each other. As the “show” gains popularity, one might think that it wouldn’t be as much fun for us because we are giving up our intimate down time we have enjoyed so much. But you know what – not at all. We love having more people to share and paint with. It is just as exciting as when we first began. Cindy comes up with new projects to work on every week. We are meeting people, being creative, and doing all the things we do best. This is our weekly chance to shine and sparkle! Come hang out with us and you will see what I mean! Our fun summer is coming to an end, but we have a lot in store for you for the fall and winter months ahead. ~Melissa Reyes

  • Let’s close this summer with reflections of special moments.
  • Transform a cigar box into a memory box to hold your collection.
  • This week we will be painting on a cigar box.
  • We will be painting a picturesque landscape with a foggy effect.
  • Join us on Thursday, Sept 1st @ 8 pm Eastern / 5 pm Pacific in the Zoom Room – but don’t click on it until Thursday!

The #MandalaGuidebook a Review and Interview of Author Kathryn Costa @100Mandalas by Melissa Reyes

Posted on May 21st, 2016 by & filed under ART, Books, Everything Miz Meliz, Intentional, Mindfulness Guidance and Coaching

May 21, 2016

I want to write a syrupy sweet message of love and admiration for Kathryn Costa, as I know you would enjoy reading that as much as I would enjoy writing it, however as a book reviewer and blogger I am going to go straight to the review of her amazing new book, The Mandala Guidebook.

The Mandala Guidebook: How to Draw, Paint, and Color Expressive Mandala Art, by Kathryn Costa

13246091_10206221941562579_1465888781_nThis book could have made a beautiful coffee table book, or an instructional text book, however the author intuitively designed it to be a companion book. It seems to have been intended to carry in your book bag with your sketch book, adult coloring books, and magazines. At least that was the impression I got when I first opened the envelope and got my hands on the much anticipated guidebook by the influential and inspiring artist, teacher, mentor and, now author, Kathryn Costa. In my book bag it has traveled since that day.

Not your typical “how to draw” book, this colorful display of fine original paintings, designs, and drawings is breathtakingly beautiful and pleasantly enjoyable to peruse, gaze upon, and admire; while doing so one may gain inspiration and motivation to develop their own artistic skills and talents.

Aesthetically pleasant to hold and read, with it’s high quality pages and mesmerizing high definition photographs, The Mandala Guidebook is full of detailed instructions and in-depth information on what an artist would need to know to navigate their own mandala discovery. Deeply personal and thoughtful, Kathryn passionately shares her insights and expertise in The Mandala Guidebook, gently coaching and offering suggestions on ways that you can express yourself while enjoying the process of facilitating any level of participation in this ancient art form.

Clever, fun, delightful, and intensive, The Mandala Guidebook is the best introduction and go to manual for artists and art lovers at any point in their personal experience. Tapping into her background in Graphic Design, and over 15 years working with mandalas, Kathryn Costa brilliantly incorporates graphic design elements and principles gifting the reader with a visual literacy. As she brings them into the conversation, talking about what they see and what they can do, Kathryn demonstrates many methods offering a wide range of styles, techniques and mediums for creating beautiful mandalas.

I had the privilege to interview Kathryn Costa about the launch of The Mandala Guidebook on an online show that I co-host with my friend, Cindy Harrison. Sparkle and Inspire is a weekly live stream demonstration and step by step DIY class where you can watch and participate as I learn and create a decorative art project. Being a mandala artist myself, I love how we incorporate mandalas into every project. Kathryn’s influence shines through in every area of my life that has been touched by mandalas.

In the interview, Kathryn shares how she first came to know about mandalas and how she used them when she taught high school students. She explains how mandalas can create a bonding opportunity and that the idea of creating a circular design can bring people together and create community.

Kathryn describes how she was influenced by Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist who discovered the significance of mandalas through his own inner work, when she decided to challenge herself and create 100 mandalas in 100 days. She explains how that experience was the starting point that has brought her to where she is now.

How I Sparkle and have been Inspired with taking Decorative Art Classes Online with Cindy Harrison

by Melissa Reyes

May 20, 2016

I have been playing around with arts and crafts most of my life, but I didn’t truly consider myself an artist until I met Cindy Harrison.

I was inspired to draw and color mandalas by Kathryn Costa, author of The Mandala Guidebook, and instigator of the 100 Mandala Challenge. I have been motivated and thoroughly enchanted with the creativity and peace that working with mandalas has brought me over the past six months.

I am an artist. I have a lot to learn, but I trust my ability and believe in my talent. Now, I have a mentor and a great friend in Cindy. We speak daily and she encourages me. We work together producing a weekly “show” on livestreaming video that is a virtual class. Anyone can watch and participate.

Cindy and I post the supply list and details for each project about a week in advance. You can see all the details and previous episodes on CindyHarrisonArt.com
