On behalf of myself, MizMeliz.com and BubblrMedia, I wish to thank Stacey Barker at JadeUmbrella PR and Assal Ravandi of the Academy of United States Veterans for orchestrating the Red Carpet Interviews and The World Premiere of “Not A War Story” at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Fri., June 30, 2017! (Please see my disclosure to learn why I post articles like this one on MizMeliz.com. This is not sponsored, nor was I compensated. I was not asked to write a review or post a story about the experience and all opinions are my own.)

It was a pleasure to be among the reporters asked to to be involved in the coverage of the world premiere of “Not A War Story,” the documentary behind “Range 15,” the movie made by veterans for veterans. It was a unique opportunity to show support and appreciation for the Hollywood experience as well as pride and patriotism, in consideration of the surge of heroes who walked the red carpet.

Through support, promotion and recognizing Veteran service organizations, Veterans programs and Veteran owned businesses nationwide; the AUSV illuminates the work of like-minded groups such as those behind-the-scenes of Not A War Story. Their goal is to maximize collective impact through collaboration and cooperation within the veteran community and Hollywood for this film.

Not A War Story, Review by Melissa Reyes

Not a War Story was a crazy behind the scenes look at what it takes to make a film, in Hollywood, in a short amount of time, against all odds, with veterans, seasoned and amateur actors, a limited budget, and no experience. Sounds pretty ridiculous, huh? Well add to that the film it is about is Range 15 – a satirical indie military movie about zombies. Is it funny? Yes. Is it worth seeing? Absolutely! But maybe not for reasons you would expect. The comedy is dark and might not be for everyone. That goes for the original film as well as the documentary which begins with a very lewd scene about the making of a particular body part being blown off. That was the opening. Sets up the whole thing. Excellent planning on the part of director, Tim O’Donnell!

The point of the documentary I believe is to bring to light the passion of the filmmakers and the purpose behind the making of the film. It gave a voice to the veterans who need to be heard. Many supporters came to see a documentary about war vets who were suffering from PTSD and recovering from tragic injuries. Most were prepared to cry tears from despair, yet may have ended up crying tears brought on by hilarity. Because a lesson was taught from the actors in the film and the people who shared their stories in the documentary, the veterans themselves – get over it. Life is short. Things happen. Amputees and burn victims are people too. Humor and video games are fun for everyone. If we all just laughed at ourselves about how dumb we look trying so hard all the time, maybe things wouldn’t seem so bad. If we all paid a little more attention to the needs of those who risk everything for our safety maybe we would all be a little happier to begin with.

July is National Blueberry Month

In the United States we have declared special days, weeks, and months to celebrate everything from our favorite foods and drinks to our favorite pastimes. (Thanks to 5W Public Relations for providing photos and samples of the products shown in this post. Please see my Disclosure for details on why I post articles like this on my blog. I was not compensated for this and it is not sponsored. All opinions are my own.)

Recently I enjoyed celebrating Social Media Day and National Rosé Day. These are both examples of special days that were started by companies to promote one type of brand or industry.

People love to come together for a cause, a mission, a common interest. We love to celebrate, commemorate, and honor that which is important to us. We do this best as a community. Someone somewhere decided that July is National Blueberry Month. Below you will find some products that feature blueberries as an ingredient. I like blueberries because they are good for me. Blueberries are known to have antioxidant qualities and are good for my liver. They taste great, too!

This week, the BubblrMedia community is going to be celebrating it’s first family road trip! It’s called Aliens on Safari and it features Emily Shatters, and her kids taking a trip from Georgia to Oregon and back. We invite you to join us as they share their adventures live on the BubblrMedia Facebook channel and on Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. What exactly do Aliens eat while they are on safari?  I don’t know for sure, but I will suggest they try the blueberries, they are delicious!
